Summer Program in
Madrid, Spain

Welcome to Madrid, Spain

The city of Madrid received international recognition in 1992 when UNESCO (U.N. Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) proclaimed it "Europe's Cultural Capital." This location will afford program participants the unique opportunity to visit sites of historic, artistic, literary and cultural significance.

Indeed, strolling through the streets of Madrid is like taking a trip through Spanish history. Students may visit such varied and interesting locations as the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum (one of the world's premier collections of fine art), the Gran Via, and the Centro Cultural Reina SofĂa.

Academics

Students will enjoy immersion in the Spanish language and as a result, experience an accelerated learning process. A special feature of the program is the opportunity to live with a Spanish family and to share customs, meals, and other aspects of life with them. Formal classes will be conducted in the morning and the afternoon, while other times will be devoted to visiting places of cultural and historical interest in and around the city.

See the Department's website for more details.
