Experience business abroad in Germany! This course provides the student with on-site experience in German businesses over Spring Break 2018. It offers MBA students a chance to meet public officials, business leaders and European students while gaining insight into the way business works in Germany.
Site visits may include companies like Deutsche Bundesbank, Buchert Family Winery and a local marketing company. The students will also tour the city of Heidelberg, Frankfurt and Hambach Castle. In addition, students are given lectures by a professor from the University of Mannheim Business School.
Students will be enrolled in MBA 745 for 3 credit hours in the Spring 2018 semester. Students are required to attend one pre-departure seminar meeting explaining the basis of the course and the requirements. Instruction will take place during travel to Germany. Students will arrive in Mannheim on Sunday, March 4th, and depart Mannheim on March 10th. Plant visits and lectures at the University of Mannheim have been arranged for this week. In addition, sight-seeing and cultural enrichment side trips will be offered. Students will be expected to keep a daily journal of their experiences. After returning to the U.S., students will complete and submit a comprehensive final paper on any topic related to doing business in Germany. Refer to course syllabus for full course requirements.

Program Director Dr. Moses Acquaah is a Professor of Management (Strategic Management) and Director of the MBA Program ad Interim at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA. Dr. Acquaah has previously led MBA students abroad to Germany and Brazil with the Bryan School. Dr. Acquaah’s current research focuses on strategic management and entrepreneurship in emerging economies, with special emphases on networking relationships, competitive strategy, human factor, and family business issues in Africa.
