IPC & UNCG Scholarships
IPC Travel Grant
All UNCG students planning to participate in a UNCG Study Abroad Program are invited to apply for a Travel Grant Award. Students do not need to have already applied to study abroad in order to apply for a Travel Grant. The award will be provided to you as a reimbursement on the term you study abroad, so it will be important to have direct deposit set up with the Financial Aid Office.Travel Grant Awards typically range between $200-$1100. The grants are funded by generous donors to UNCG specifically for study abroad participation. Award amounts are calculated based on a number of factors including but not limited to financial need, academic area, Honors College standing, and other parameters set by the donors of the various funds. Priorities set by IPC are also considered, e.g, first time college students and students who have never traveled abroad. Note that Honors College students are required to submit this travel grant application to receive their travel grant.
There are two application deadlines: October 31 and March 31.
- The March 31 deadline is for students planning to study abroad on programs that run during the following summer, fall, and spring terms. The application will open February 1st. Awards will be announced by April 15. Apply here (Available after February 1st).
- The October 31 deadline is for students planning to study abroad on programs that run during the following spring, summer, and fall terms. The application will open September 1st. Awards will be announced by November 15.
If you change your program or term from the one you listed in your travel grant application, you can still use your award funds. The funds will be disbursed to your student account on the term when you actually study abroad.
TRAVEL GRANT FAQS:
- I already received a travel grant award letter from a previous cycle. Do I need to reapply?
Not if the award is still valid. You can receive a travel grant if you study abroad in the 3 terms after you receive the award letter. If 3 academic terms have passed since you received your travel grant award letter, then you will need to reapply. Read the instructions in the application (or your award letter)--it provides all the details you need for which terms the award covers.
- I'm a Lloyd International Honors College student. How do I confirm eligibility and get my higher award?
Eligible Lloyd Honors College students will receive an increased travel grant award of $1,100. All LIHC students need to do to receive the higher award is meet the eligibility requirements and complete a travel grant application. No further action is needed. Eligibility requirements can be found here (scroll down to the Honors Travel Grant section to see the 5 requirements). For questions about LIHC travel grant eligibility, contact Eric Toler at ebtoler@uncg.edu.
- If I already used a travel grant on a previous study abroad program, can I get another one?
No, unfortunately the travel grants are one per person. If you are eligible for multiple study abroad scholarships/travel grants, you may only receive one and it defaults to the highest value award.
